The state office that licenses insurers and agents and handles consumer complaints. It can look into problems like claim delays or unfair treatment, but it does not act as your lawyer.

This is the least coverage the law requires. It often isn’t enough to pay for a serious accident, and anything above your limits can come out of your own pocket.

Florida does not require bodily injury liability for most drivers. UM coverage can be rejected in writing.

These state-established programs cover homes that private insurers won’t. They’re meant as a last resort: coverage is often more limited and can cost more, so shop the private market and ask an agent first. Eligibility rules vary.

Citizens Property Insurance Corporation State-created insurer
Homeowners, condo, renters, dwelling fire and mobile home policies for Floridians who can’t find comparable coverage from a private insurer, plus wind-only policies in certain areas.
